EMS Grivory manufactures the Grivory handle, a thermoplastic polyamide that is produced by injection molding. This handle is also known as Griv-Ex and Cold Steel knife company.
Grivory, a knife handle material of high quality that resists heat and impact, is very durable. It is corrosion-resistant and lasts longer than other knife handle materials such as wood or metal.

Grivory Material Properties

Grivory vs G10 handle
G10 handle is a superior material than Grivory / GrivEx handle. G10 handle is more durable than Grivory handle because of its manufacturing process.
The manufacturing process for G10 scales involves stacking layers of soaked fiberglass and compressing them together before baking them at a high temperature.
This results in a material that is impervious to liquids and highly durable, thereby minimizing the chance of corrosion or degradation.
G10 handles are also more resistant to heat than Grivory handles. A G10 knife can also be used in high temperatures.
G10 handles can be exposed to the sun for extended periods of time without any degradation. This is not true for Grivory handles.
Griv-Ex handles will cost less to make than Grivory handles. Grivory handles will also be cheaper than G10 handles.
Grivory vs FRN handle
FRN handle materials, Grivory/Griv-Ex handle and Grivory/Griv-Ex handle are closely related. FRN is Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon. It can also be referred to by GFN, which stands for Glass-Filled Nylon.
FRN handles are of higher quality that Grivory / GrivEx handles. However, they are very similar because of the manufacturing process and the materials.
Both materials are made from high strength plastics, most often a nylon polymer. To give it more strength, FRN nylon polymer is mixed with glass fiber.
Both are injection-molded in different shapes and textures. Although it might be hard to tell the difference, Grivory feels less premium.
The FRN scales knife is a bit more expensive than a GrivEx one due to its superior quality.
Grivory vs CF-Elite handle
CF elite is a Benchmade Scale that replaces the Grivory handle, which many complained felt flimsy on the Benchmade Buffer.
The most striking difference is the CF elite scale, which is stronger and has less flex than the Grivory.
The CF Elite manufacturing process is very similar to that of Grivory, however, CF Elite plastic polymer blends with strands carbon fiber for additional strength.
The CF Elite Scales feel a lot more premium than the Grivory ones. The CF Elite is lighter than FRN and G10 scales, but not significantly different from Grivory.
